Frequently asked questions
When do we need to transition to ISO 9001:2026?
ISO published ISO 9001:2026 on September 16, 2026. Under the accreditation bodies' transition arrangements, certified organizations must move to the 2026 edition by September 2029. Certification bodies need time to get accredited for the new edition and to schedule transition audits, so starting with a gap assessment now avoids a last-minute rush.
What is an ISO 9001 gap assessment?
A structured review of your current quality system against each requirement of ISO 9001:2026. You get a written report showing what already conforms, what is missing, and a prioritized plan to close the gaps. It is useful whether you are certified to the 2015 edition or starting from scratch.
What is the difference between ATEX and IECEx?
ATEX is the European Union's legal requirement (Directive 2014/34/EU) for equipment used in explosive atmospheres; certification involves a Notified Body and a Quality Assurance Notification (QAN). IECEx is an international certification scheme run under the IEC; it uses IECEx Certification Bodies (ExCBs) and a Quality Assessment Report (QAR). Both assess the manufacturer's quality system against ISO/IEC 80079-34, and many manufacturers hold both. Our product experience is in intrinsically safe (Ex ia) equipment.
Do we need ISO 9001 before an IECEx QAR or ATEX QAN audit?
An ISO 9001 certificate is not strictly required, but an ISO 9001-based quality system with Ex-specific additions from ISO/IEC 80079-34 is the usual foundation and generally makes the audits simpler.
Do you certify our company or products?
No. We prepare you for certification; we do not certify. Certification decisions are made only by accredited certification bodies, ExCBs, and Notified Bodies, and no certification outcome is guaranteed.
Do you work outside the Houston area?
Yes. We work on-site in Tomball, Houston, and the surrounding area, and remotely with manufacturers across the United States.
